I am Kevin Hanchett, a dedicated professional in the field of counseling. I hold a Master's of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University and hold a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the esteemed University of Georgia.
My roots are in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where I have been fortunate to nurture a wide range of interests, spanning music, sports, cinema, and more. My demeanor is characterized as laid-back, and I prioritize the development of strong therapeutic relationships with my clients. My counseling approach is adaptable, tailored to the unique needs of each individual or couple.
While my theoretical foundation is integrative, I frequently draw upon Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Adlerian Theory, and Person-Centered Therapy in my practice. Additionally, I specialize in Play Therapy, primarily utilized in my work with children and adolescents, though it remains a valuable tool for clients of all age groups. I maintain an inclusive approach, extending my services to a diverse clientele, including couples, children, adolescents, adults, and individuals within the LGTBQ+ community.
My overarching philosophy in counseling is centered on the belief that by honing new skills and fostering personal growth within the therapeutic space, individuals can subsequently apply these positive changes to their lives outside of the counseling setting, thereby facilitating lasting progress.
